Chapter Eighteen — Beep Beep
One evening, as we got back into the car after our nighttime showers, Sweetie noticed a moth fly into the car. It flew toward the back seat, and he said, “ah, he’ll fly out when we open the doors to get our shower stuff out.” We didn’t give it any more thought.
It was a beautiful evening, so we had the screen door and windows open in the camper. There was a nice breeze. We sat down to watch TV, and after a while, someone’s car alarm started going off. To me, car alarms are kinda dumb. If you’re in the grocery store and they go off, how would you know? And it just annoys everyone. Once while delivering J to college, I accidentally bumped the car next to me with my backside, and set off that car’s alarm. I thought, “Everyone’s moving into dorms. How are they going to hear it?”
So this alarm kept going off, and Sweetie finally said, “is that MY car?!” We got up and sure enough, it was! There was no one around, and the lights weren’t flashing, which was rather strange. Then it suddenly stopped! Well, that was weird! So we continue watching TV and it did it again! Again, there was no one around.
Then Sweetie thought, “I wonder if that moth flew over the sensor on the dashboard and set off the alarm.” He went out to investigate and found the moth who then went to play with the flies. Sweetie went to bed with his car keys in case it happened again. It never did.
Who knew a moth would be the culprit of this mystery?
