Epilogue
There was one big plus to this whole adventure, as negative as some (most?) of it has been. We found a wonderful church in Momence...St. Patrick's. We had been attending Mass there all summer and really feel at home there. The pastor is wonderful and the people have been so welcoming and friendly. We just knew this would be our parish, and as of this writing, it is. We joined St. Patrick's last week. It's only 20 minutes from our house, and if the winter roads get bad, we can fall back on going to St. George or watch Mass on Channel 7 (our last resort.)
It’s now November 6.. I’m amazed at what we accomplished in one and a half months! Sweetie got his shed, we had landscaping put in, window treatments arrived last week, and the pile of boxes is dwindling somewhat. We’re still waiting for our office desks and laundry room closet to be installed, and shelving in my sewing room. (that room is taking forever!) I've hung pictures and it's really looking like home.
Sweetie has been building a workbench in the garage, so he can get his stuff organized before the snow flies. (ok, too late for that…snow already flew once). I still don’t feel like we’re ready for company quite yet. I’m hoping to be more together by the end of this month.
But Rome wasn’t built in a day. And when you’re an old fart, things take longer to get done. Energy doesn’t come in a bottle. Well, I guess it does, but we don’t drink that stuff!
If you read this blog all the way through, you’ll understand what this move was like for us. We are thrilled to be where we are. We are grateful to our builder for delivering the house on the day he promised! We met our neighbors, who seem wonderful. Hope to get to know them better when we’re a little more organized. I love our location. Everything is close.
We’re happy to be close to Sweetie’s family. Sweetie's daughter has made umpteen meals for us, for which we are eternally grateful. And Juj comes and stays for an occasional weekend, which is great! We're looking forward to having lots of visitors!
One last word…if you’re considering a move as an old fart, let us know. We’ll pray for you. 😊
