Chapter Twenty-Five — Moving Day

September 18 couldn’t have come sooner. We had a leisurely breakfast before coming to the house, but the day started earlier than we expected. We just got to the house and the trucks arrived. Cousin Ace and Joe came to help, and Juj brought donuts and mimosas (though we didn’t have that yet). Some furniture didn’t have a spot, so some things wound up in the wrong rooms. We still have things we don’t need…like the base of our old entertainment center. It would make a nice TV console, just not here.

It was an exhausting day, but in six hours, all our stuff was here. Then the fun began…emptying boxes, breaking down boxes, and trying to figure out where to put things. But each box was like Christmas…” Oooh, what’s in here?” Then there were some contents where I’d say “Oh, man, what am I going to do with that?!” Our last house, being on a lake, had a nautical theme. Here, some things don’t “go.”

It’s now November 6, and we’re still not completely unpacked. But it looks way better than on September 18!! The good part is we’re home.
