Chapter Nineteen — It's Like Sleeping on Air!

Sweetie and I had a hard time sleeping on the mattress that came with the camper. Even the pillow topper didn’t give us much support. He talked about getting a different mattress, but camper mattresses are about $300, and we really didn’t want to spend another $300 on this place.

So I got the idea about getting an air mattress! I slept on one when visiting J once. It was pretty comfortable. And we could always use it later for company if we have a bunch of people staying over when we move. It was about $50! Perfect. Love Amazon. It arrived the next day.

We read the directions and blew it up. It took some finagling but we changed the sheet and pillow topper from the original mattress to the air mattress. Then we started to laugh. How are we ever going to get IN this thing! It was about 40” off the ground! Sweetie went to his car and got a step stool. That helped except, any time Sweetie had to get up, I had to get up to retrieve the step stool for my side. That was a rough night.

The next day, we thought, we should just take out the original mattress and just use the air mattress. THAT was a struggle! But we managed, and tied it up (also a struggle) and took it to storage. That’s better, but we still need the step stool. So Sweetie bought another one. We have another one, but it went to storage with the movers. (Sigh)
